Fabulous
Overheard in the waiting room at Cheshire Medical Center to be checked by an ENT specialist, Friday May 10, 2024, 3:10 pm
There were a whole bunch of people in the waiting room and one of the nurses opens the door and calls out a name to usher someone into the exam room area. A lumpy woman at the back wall rises out of her chair and is moving towards the door, dragging her young son who has Tourettes and who is still staring at his horizontally-oriented phone as he walks. As the woman gets to the nurse at the door, the nurse extends the greeting, “How are you?” And as the woman disappears into the next hallway, I hear her respond, in one of the blandest voices that you can imagine, maybe verging on sarcasm, “Fabulous.”
